WHO IS RAFFERTY HALLOWS?

I am Rafferty Hallows, bleeding heart sapphic doula, weirdo, and self appointed Patron Saint of Mental Mamas.

My greatest wish is to lead a community revolution that centres Mothers, postpartum, children and healing as vitally important to the health of society as a whole.

I offer full spectrum Mothercare, pregnancy and postpartum doula support, resources and postpartum planning and inspiration to the queer, quirky, neuro-spicey Mothers of Melbourne.

I like to think of myself as Molly Weasley of The Revolution. Instead of a wand and a cauldron I have a soap box (instagram) and tender heart as my conduits of magic.

Taking care of mothers with a tenderness inspired by my own experiences, slutty toast, deep reverence and wide open arms is a subversive act in a world that treats Mothers as though they don't exist. Nah, Fuck that.

Laid bare

I am living my big bold queer life, held gently by the compassionate grace of my community, raising three gremlin babes in a shared custody arrangement with my ex husband, while embodying my punk values through doula work.

Motherhood flattened me!

I give thanks every day to the community and sisterhood of doulas who raised me as I transitioned from maiden to Mother, in place of the crones and matriarches who are so sorely missed within modern society.

My eldest son is eleven (woah), which means I have been deep in the Mother sphere for *gasp* over a decade and officially a doula for seven years. I originally planned to work at the alter of birth. But extended postpartum is truly where my magic resides.

When I'm not soap boxing about the potent healing opportunities of postpartum, the industrial birth complex, motherhood and the patriarchy, I can be found stewing magic in my kitchen, thrifting, fooling around, exploring by the water, dancing or re-reading Harry Potter for the hundredth time.

WHO IS VEGGIE DADDY?

Veggie Daddy is my sassier, funnier and more assertive alter ego. The healthy masculine daddy energy we all deserved when we were small; And now more than ever, especially as Mothers. I don't always work from this space, but Veggie Daddy is always with me.
